Despite missing second preseason game, Jets quarterback Geno Smith encouraged by ankle progress

On and on the Jets' quarterback battle between Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith goes, stretching from the spring, shortly after Smith was drafted in the second round, through training camp in Cortland, N.Y., into Saturday night's preseason home opener, and now creeping toward the third of four preseason games, next Saturday against the Giants.
