Cortland man accused of hitting teenage son with van during dispute

A 43-year-old man is accused of getting into a fight with his son and then hitting the child with a van as he drove away, the New York State Police said. Just before 2 p.m. Tuesday troopers responded to Blodget Mills Road in the town of Cortlandville after Cortland County 911 received a report of two people fighting there.

15 area Wendy's get new owner

Fifteen Toledo-area Wendy's restaurants have been sold by their franchise owner to Meritage Hospitality Group Inc. of Grand Rapids, Mich., a publicly traded restaurant company that owns 167 quick-service and fast-casual restaurants from Michigan to Florida. Al Pruitt, president of the Wendy's operations for Meritage, said it bought the metro Toledo restaurants from Wend Partners of Cortland, N.Y. A purchase price was not disclosed, although Meritage said the acquisition will add about $19 million in sales to its annual revenues.

Cortland jury awards $333,000 to karate instructor over crash caused by drunken driver

Troy Rodman, the owner of Bailey's Karate in Cortland, N.Y., won a $333,000 verdict in July 2015 in a civil suit over injuries he suffered in a June 2011 crash in Cortland. The owner of this Subaru, Frank DeAngles, was charged with driving while intoxicated after his car hit Rodman's pick-up truck.
